Our client is a successful, well established scaffolding and construction contracting business. Their head office in Kent along with their main yard, along with a satellite office in Hertfordshire. They have accreditations including ISO 18001, 14001 and 9002. Their scaffolding business operates across a number of key sectors including, rail services, local authority and residential, they provide a 24 hour out of hours emergency response and enjoy a lot of repeat client business. The Group’s business operates under five key sectors; Scaffolding; Building; External Decorating & Repairs; Roofing and Communal Area Coatings. The present turnover is c£12m with a very healthy gross margin across all of their specialist sectors. This opportunity will be within their scaffolding business.
On the rail side they provide access solutions to enable the safe and efficient building and maintenance on the railway network. They carry out work ranging from small access scaffolds for rail sub stations up to suspended scaffolds to large Victorian rail bridges spanning rivers and motorways.
With Local Authorities they have carried out many contracts in the London Boroughs of Southwark and Tower Hamlets for clients specialising in Housing Association refurbishment and maintenance.
They also undertake work for the residential sector and will provide free of charge estimates for any housing scheme either large or small, low rise or high rise.
As part of their emergency call out services they offer a 24 hour provision. This service is manned by a dedicated supervisor led scaffold team on standby, with an emergency telephone number. The type of emergency works undertaken include shoring up and propping up unsafe structures, fire damage to buildings and bridges struck by vehicles.
Some of their clients include Network Rail, BAM Nuttall, Osborne, Gallions Housing Association, Birse Rail, Pararail, VINCI and Balfour Beatty
Their scaffolding business has been established for many years; they are currently seeking an experienced Business Development Professional who can spearhead new opportunities for growth and development for this business. This role has a broad remit along with considerable responsibility and autonomy. You will need to be self starting and self sufficient using your contacts and experience to generate new enquiries. There will also be some existing client up-selling involved.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maximise all potential revenue opportunities with both new and existing clients
• Liaise with the Directors to coordinate new business and sales
• Develop increased business across all core sectors
• Rail access solutions experience in this sector would be advantageous
• A good ambassador for the business
• A good blend of commercial and industrial sector experience
• Stable career track record with proven success
• Good client contacts across relevant sectors
• Ideally, have worked for a major scaffolding business in business development, sales or marketing capacity
